Membrane Bio Reactor Optimisation

I completed a project focused on the optimisation of a membrane bio reactor treating centrate from an anaerobic digestion plant. There were issues with poor separation of fines and a build up of salts within the processed centrate. The centrate then formed the diluent for the food waste coming into the process. I undertook a full analysis of operating data and recommended changes to the process conditions within the MBR as well as a number of plant modifications to switch to the use of the retentate (Sludge) from the MBR as the food waste diluent. The client adopted these proposals and has seen significant improvement in MBR performance and process stability as a result.
